Recipes to Make Lip Gloss
The main ingredient recipes to make lip gloss call for is natural beeswax. You can buy this at most health food stores.

However, Vaseline is also an option you might already have in your kitchen, and often does a better job of moisturizing dry lips than does beeswax. Substitute either into the following recipes for customized makeup.

Each of the following recipes has the same base, which will be made from either beeswax or Vaseline, a base oil, an essential oil, flavoring, and a coloring if you would like. Here is a sample recipe to try out.

Make Your Own Lip Gloss

  • 3 teaspoons natural beeswax
  • 4 teaspoons jojoba oil
  • 5 drops peppermint oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons honey

There are a few different ways you can color your lip gloss. The first is to take a chunk of lipstick that you don't use often and mix it in with the other ingredients while heating.

Another is to simply use red food coloring sparingly until you get the right shade for your skin. If you want to go completely natural, you can also throw in a few cranberries into the mix, picking out the skins when after heating and mixing.

Begin by heating the beeswax and base oils (like jojoba or sunflower) in a ceramic bowl in the microwave. Once melted, stir the ingredients together well. Mix in your essential oils, flavorings, and colorant.

Once everything is melted together, you will need to pour the mixtures into their separate containers. You may need to heat the mixture a little more to get it to pour properly. If you used cranberries, now is the time to remove any skins in the mix. Then, fill your containers and allow to cool in the fridge! Here are a few more recipes to try out.
